About the Position:

IMCO General Construction is seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our team in the Pacific Northwest. The position reports to the Claims and Risk Manager. The area of responsibility will primarily include projects located in Western and Central Washington.

  • This position is accountable for assisting in implementing and overseeing the safety policies and procedures of IMCO General Construction and its subsidiaries.
  • Act as subject matter expert for interpretation and compliance planning for current and emerging safety regulatory requirements at all levels, including client-specific requirements and state, Federal, and local legislation and regulations.
  • The primary responsibilities for this position include jobsite coordination of safety and health policies and procedures, interacting with jobsite personnel regarding safety issues, and assisting project personnel with identifying and eliminating hazards and incidents.
  • Offers a flexible schedule and coordinates safety support for several construction sites.

Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in the identification, analysis, and development of controls to eliminate or minimize occupational hazards that exist in work locations.
  • Participate in and lead risk assessments using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Participate and support near miss and incident reporting, investigation, development of corrective actions, and closure.
  • Participate in or conduct root cause analyses.
  • Support and provide HSE training to ensure training content is reviewed and updated as necessary.
  • Lead implementation of safety-related document control program into company-required databases.
  • Maintain awareness of developments and changes in legislation that affect site safety operations.
  • Participate in corporate safety team meetings and support the continuous improvement process.
  • Support return-to-work program for injured employees as directed by C&RM.

Schedule and Travel Requirements:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Travel to various construction project sites and/or company offices within assigned areas.
  • The assigned area is primarily Western Washington (Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Kitsap, Pierce and Thurston, Island and San Juan Counties), with occasional work in Central Washington (including Kittitas and Chelan Counties).
  • Candidates may be asked to travel outside their assigned area with adequate notice, as dictated by project demands.
  • Travel ranges from 25-35% (1-2 overnights per week on average), depending on project volume and location proximate to the candidate's residence.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting salary is $90,000 - 110,000 annually – Depending on experience and certifications.
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage is available on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
  • 401(k) match on eligible wages and available for eligible employees on the first of the month following 60 days of employment. IMCO offers 100% contribution matching up to 4% of the employee’s eligible wages.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Candidates that do not meet the qualifications below will not be considered. 

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years experience managing safety in a construction or industrial environment.
  • An undergraduate degree is a plus. 
  • Safety Certificates from Accredited Organizations Preferred (i.e. BCSP, IHMM, etc.)
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Current and valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record capable of maintaining an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 
  • Enrollment in a drug-free workplace program is required. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring THC in testing panels.
  • A criminal background check is required; one must be able to pass security clearance requirements for select projects.
