As a result of continued growth, we are currently seeking candidates for a Contracts Dept. Preconstruction Services Estimator position to support the Sprinkler Contracts Department at our office in Auburn, ME.  This position will play a critical role in our fire protection team by evaluating fire sprinkler system requirements for various construction and renovation projects. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining valuable relationships with our current and potential customer base, coordinating the estimating workload with our estimating team, analyzing blueprints, performing site visits, and preparing detailed cost estimates for sprinkler systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable codes. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide accurate and competitive proposals. Effective communication and leadership skills with an understanding of sprinkler systems, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in estimating software are essential for success in this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers and potential customers to determine fire protection needs and evaluate installation options.
  • Assist in coordinating estimating workloads with the estimating team.
  • Build relationships with customers to capture a full range of fire protection services throughout all departments.
  • Assist in developing and carrying out sales strategies.
  • Prepare estimates and bid proposals based on evaluation of construction documents.
  • Perform preliminary surveys of existing buildings to determine costs associated with the installation of fire protection services.
  • Provide project management duties when assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, clients, external vendors and other business associates. Clearly communicates directions and information. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills. Cognitive discipline.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, any hydraulic calculation program
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and calculate figures and amounts.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • Experience in leading teams and effectively allocating resources.
  • Six months to one-year related experience and/or training
