The Tripp County Extension Department is looking for a full-time Extension Program Assistant  to provide office assistance for staff, vendors and the general public doing business with the department, and is the assistant to the 4H Youth Advisor.

What you'll get to do! 

  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Perform clerical duties to include telephone receptionist, correspondence, data entry, filing, copying, creating newsletters, managing all office email and mail, event scheduling and notifications, ordering office supplies, updating inventory list, and directing clientele to appropriate personnel (internal and external)
  • Assist the advisor with designing and distributing the monthly 4-H newsletter and other promotional materials.
  • Courteously greet 4-H youth and families and general members of the public. Use appropriate resources to assist those who call on the phone, walk-in the building, and/or contact the office through email.
  • Being able to operate standard office equipment and computer with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Being able to design creative informational materials.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective workspace with coworkers, other agencies, and the public.
  • Maintain and monitor the department budget, prepares and submits vouchers from invoices/statements received and prepares monthly & annual county budget reports and receiving and depositing monies for multiple entities.
  • Coordinating and scheduling the use of the Tripp County Courthouse Meeting Room and   4-H Center & Fairgrounds
  • Responsible for the overall management of Tripp County 4-H data, enrollments and insurance forms, managing registrations, and generating 4-H statistical reports for Tripp County and SDSU 4-H Office 
  • Help prepare and attend any county contest with the 4-H Advisor such as Public Presentations, Special Foods and any other events that take place, even during weekends and evenings.
  • Record ribbon placing and awards, in order to organize materials and the program for the annual recognition event.
  • Organize supplies, judges, volunteers and information needed for and Assist with preparations for the Mid Dakota Fair, Tripp County 4-H Horse Show, 4-H Rodeo, 4-H
  • Recognition Event and travel to Huron, SD for South Dakota State Fair to set up and take down exhibits for the Tripp County Booth
  • Maintain a yearly civil rights audit, as required by SDSU.
  • Assist the 4-H advisor with updating and managing the Tripp County 4-H Facebook page.

  • PC skills, with knowledge and experience of computer software applications, spreadsheet, word processing and data base management
