We are searching for an Estimator to provide Estimating support documents for construction projects that are received for bid/proposal requests. They must represent the company in a professional and courteous manner, while upholding the high standards that the company represents.

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

Review new project assignments carefully to determine all bid requirements, examples are:

  1. Bid due dates
  2. Bid security or bonding requirements
  3. Pre-bid meeting
  4. Insurance requirements
  5. Liquidated damages
  6. Schedule requirements
  7. Pre-qualification, previous experience, ownership, financial data, etc.
  8. Safety plans
  9. Execution plans
  10. Review sample contracts and general conditions
  11. Review drawings and specification
  12. Prevailing or fixed wage requirements.
  13. MBE/WBE participation requirements
  14. Miscellaneous requirements

Additional Requirements:

  • Review project specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, sub-contracts, productive analysis reports, etc. into unit a man-hour figures for new project estimate preparation.
  • Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
  • May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials and prepare voluntary alternates.
  • Calculate material quantity requirements (i.e., take-offs from engineering drawing dimensions.
  • Prepare complete estimate for selected project with detailed review of proposal specification, drawings, take off information contracting and the like.
  • Assist corporate and project management to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies techniques, etc.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Four-year Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
  • Advanced management or technical training preferred
  • Healthcare construction experience preferred
  • A thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, projects management and construction management
  • Excellent organizational, supervision, decision making and problem solving skills essential
