Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Welder to join our team at our steel fabrication facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling and joining metal components according to blueprints and work orders. This position requires a high level of precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Essential Responsibilities & Requirements
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine project specifications
- Set up welding equipment and ensure it's in proper working condition
- Select appropriate welding methods, materials, and equipment based on project requirements
- Perform various types of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) on different metals and alloys
- Cut, grind, and shape metal pieces as needed for fabrication
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently
- Lifting, moving of structures into position as directed
- High standard of integrity and professionalism
- Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal or overhead positions
- Operate overhead devices to load and unload material
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, vocational training or certification in welding is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in welding, preferable in a steel fabrication environment
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding
- Knowledge of metallurgy and weld properties
- Familiarity with welding tools, equipment and safety procedures
- Perform welding, repair and fabrication
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and precision and a commitment to workplace safety
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials
- Good problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Work up to or over a 10-hour shift doing hard physical work at times, with numerous hours spent in various locations.
- Be able to work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
- Need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.
- Stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.
- Work environment will involve exposure to elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or very loud noises.
- The ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, fire resistant clothing, hard hat, vest, etc.).
- May need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements including proper personal protective equipment.
- Evaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.
