Primary Purpose:
The Apprentice Electrician plays a vital role in our electric company by assisting licensed electricians in performing electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance. This position serves as a training opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience and develop their skills in the electrical trade. The Apprentice Electrician will support various tasks related to records, reports, and correspondence, database management, phones and technology, purchasing activities, and other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and equipment (preferred).
- Strong interest in pursuing a career as a licensed electrician.
- Daily attendance, dependability, and punctuality.

- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- Physical fitness and dexterity to perform electrical tasks.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and safety practices.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred).
- Enrolled in or completed a recognized electrical apprenticeship program (preferred).
Responsibilities and Duties:
Records, Reports, and Correspondence:
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of electrical work performed, including service reports, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
- Support the preparation of reports and documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
- Assist in managing and organizing correspondence related to electrical projects and service requests.
- Maintain effective communication with team members, clients, and suppliers.
Phones and Technology:
- Utilize phones and technology to communicate with team members, clients, and suppliers.
- Learn and use relevant electrical software and tools under supervision.
- Stay updated on technological advancements in the electrical field.
- Seek guidance and support from senior electricians on using technology tools effectively.
Purchasing:
- Assist in coordinating with the purchasing department to procure electrical materials, tools, and equipment.
- Support the monitoring of inventory levels and request replenishments as directed.
- Learn and adhere to purchasing policies and procedures.
- Assist in evaluating suppliers based on quality, pricing, and reliability.
Other:
- Aid licensed electricians in performing electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
- Follow instructions and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist in conducting inspections and tests under supervision.
- Learn and implement proper electrical procedures and techniques.
- Support senior electricians and project teams in executing electrical projects.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices.
- Attend training sessions and classes to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Work to full potential, high productivity, quality and consistency of work performed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Equipment Used:
Multimeter, ohmmeter, and testing equipment; soldering iron; wire puller; pipe bender and threader; hand and power tools (saw, drill, etc.); trencher; jackhammer; concrete saw; ladder, and any other equipment as directed by the lead electrician.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting, and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent districtwide travel. May be required to perform job duties including ability to conduct instruction, attend meetings and professional development, and make and receive phone calls in a virtual or remote workplace environment. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Pay range is the following (based on experience and education):
- $15 - $18 hourly with 1-2000 hours completed
- $17 - $20 hourly with 2001-4000 hours completed
- $19 - $22 hourly with 4001-6000 hours completed
- $21 - $24 hourly with 6001-8000 hours completed
