Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Roofer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofing systems in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Roofers are required to have their own tools and safety gear to ensure the proper application of roofing materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain roofing systems using various materials for residential and commercial buildings.
- Measure and cut roofing materials to fit specific dimensions and angles.
- Remove old roofing materials as necessary, including stripping, patching, and replacing damaged sections.
- Apply roofing materials, including insulation, underlayment, and waterproofing materials, according to specifications.
- Safely operate and maintain roofing equipment and tools to include but not limited to tape measure, snap line, hammer, utility knife, welder, and shovels.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and be able to work in a crew environment.
- Always adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Roofer or in a related field preferred.
- Able to work on sloped and/or low sloped roofs.
- Knowledge of roofing materials, techniques, and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Excellent physical stamina and the ability to work at heights.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Must show up on time for scheduled shift.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Physical Demands
Employees must be able to meet the following physical demands as an essential part of their job:
- Climbing: Roofers are required to ascend and descend ladders and scaffolding to access roofs. Employees must be able to climb ladders up to a maximum height of 60 feet.
- Lifting: Roofers frequently need to lift heavy materials and equipment as part of their duties. Employees must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds safely and over 100 pounds with a team lift or aid of a cart or dolly.
- Balancing: Roofers often work on sloped and uneven surfaces. Employees must have good balance and be able to work safely on these surfaces.
- Stooping and Bending: Roofers may need to stoop, bend, and kneel frequently while performing tasks on a roof. Employees must be able to do so comfortably.
- Repetitive Motions: Roofers may engage in repetitive motions, such as hammering, nailing, or use of screw gun. Employees must be physically capable of performing these tasks without risk of injury.
- Weather Conditions: Roofers work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain. Employees must be able to adapt to these conditions and work safely.
- Communications: Roofers need to effectively communicate with the team members and supervisors. This includes verbal communication and the ability to understand and follow safety instructions.
