We are currently searching for a Survey Apprentice for our Charlotte Division. This position will assist an experienced surveyor in general site layout and problem solving while learning to use survey equipment/technology to begin your career towards a construction surveyor.
Responsibilities:
- Assist experienced surveyor in all survey duties
- Learn all types of construction layout utilizing GPS rovers and/or robotic total stations including utility stakeout and general earthwork stakeout under supervision
- Attend training classes to enhance knowledge and skill in all aspects of construction surveying
- Perform survey tasks under supervision
- Communicate with survey supervision and survey managers any findings to help assist with field problem solving
- Take direction and guidance from experienced surveyors to develop expertise in the field
- Follow company safety protocols
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good math and reasoning ability
- Must have strong communication skills
- Ability to adapt, prioritize, and react to changing construction environment
- Sense of urgency
- Mechanical aptitude and good computer skills
- Must follow safety standards throughout process
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule, including working overtime and weekends as needed
- Willingness to travel
Work Environment:
Work is performed outside in all types of environmental conditions. This position performs strenuous physical activity for long periods, under varying and adverse field conditions. This position must be able to lift and/or carry up to 75 lbs., stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out and above shoulder, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull. Specific vision requirements include near, far, and color vision.
