Position Overview:
The Director of Precision Construction Solutions is a pivotal leadership role within Coastline Equipment, responsible for driving the implementation and growth of Smartgrade and Topcon GPS precision construction technologies across our expanded multi-state territory. This role is instrumental in executing John Deere Precision Construction and Topcon Machine and Grade Control strategies while ensuring alignment with the company’s goals of sustainable revenue growth and operational excellence.

The Director will lead a team of up to eight Territory Managers across California and Nevada, fostering collaboration to support machine control, compact equipment, and channel sales operations. This role requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and leadership to achieve and exceed sales targets and budgeted goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Development: Establish and lead the strategic direction for the development, execution, and delivery of GPS and machine control products, ensuring alignment with Coastline Equipment’s growth objectives.
  • Revenue Growth & Profitability: Drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability for GPS and machine control product lines, consistently meeting or exceeding budgeted goals.
  • Sales and Technical Training: Develop and implement comprehensive sales and technical training programs to educate machine sales teams on Smartgrade and Topcon products through in-person and virtual sessions.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Provide leadership across the organization for GPS and machine control initiatives, working closely with service, parts, and sales teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Partnership Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with third-party providers, including Topcon, to secure necessary elements for delivering tailored solutions.
  • Technology Adoption: Oversee the introduction of new technologies and product offerings, ensuring Coastline Equipment remains at the forefront of industry innovation.
  • Marketing & Customer Engagement: Collaborate with Corporate Marketing to identify target customer segments and promote the value of GPS and machine control products. Create a calendar of customer events to showcase Coastline Equipment’s expertise and product offerings.
  • Integrated Solutions Development: Lead the development of integrated solutions, contributing to the dealership’s overall strategy, marketing initiatives, and training plans.
  • Consulting Services: Define and execute the business model for offering consulting services to optimize customer performance and efficiency.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a construction-related role with a strong background in business management and leadership.
  • Proven expertise in GPS and Machine Control technologies, including Topcon, Trimble, and Leica.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align with Sales, Rental, Parts, and Service leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively across California and Nevada and work flexible hours.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in dealership sales, service, or training within the heavy equipment industry.
  • Industry-recognized certifications, such as ASE Heavy Equipment Certification or precision construction technology credentials.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and software specific to GPS and machine control systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and best practices in construction safety.

Work Environment:

  • This role is primarily office-based, with frequent travel across California and Nevada for site visits and customer engagements.
  • Responsibilities include working in both office environments and construction sites, requiring adaptability to varying conditions.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports To: President/General Manager
  • Direct Reports: Supervises Precision Solutions Territory Managers and oversees Machine Control and Compact Solutions Sales teams.
  • Collaborates With: Corporate Sales, Marketing, Rental, Parts, Service, and branch management teams to align strategies and ensure seamless execution.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $175,000–$200,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
