We are seeking a Director of Safety to join our corporate team based in Wichita. This is not a hybrid or remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Vision: Develop and communicate the Company's safety vision, policies, and strategies to foster a culture focused on high-performance safety outcomes.
  • Proactive Management: Anticipate potential issues and take ownership of the safety culture by providing solutions, training, and mentoring across all organizational levels, including field staff, management, and clients.
  • Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement: Utilize logic and reasoning to assess safety-related issues, identify strengths and weaknesses, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Training and Compliance: Ensure safety training meets both internal and external (client and regulatory) requirements, enabling employees to perform tasks safely.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents, ensuring thorough analysis and action.
  • Hazard Assessment: Oversee safety inspections and analyze incident data to develop preventive and corrective practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, safety management, construction, or a related field.
  • Extensive travel is required to visit various divisions, offices, and job sites (including air and driving travel).
  • Certifications: OSHA 500 certification and CSP certification is preferable.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in construction industry safety management; 5 years in a leadership role managing a structured safety program, ideally with a general contractor or specialty contractor.
  • Knowledge: In-depth technical knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards related to construction safety.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to generate professional written materials and deliver effective verbal presentations.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
