The Scruggs Company, a Georgia construction leader and part of Construction Partners, Inc., has an opening for a Project Engineer in its Robinson Paving Company division, located in Columbus, Georgia. What you will do:

Assist Estimators, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen in securing, managing, and scheduling for various types of construction projects. The work balance will be slightly more estimating than project management but could change over time.

  • Understand, support, and adhere to Robinson and Scruggs safety requirements; observe and correct violations as they arise on project sites
  • Plan work and purchase materials with safety in mind
  • Assist Project Manager with daily project duties
  • Work with Estimators on daily estimating duties
  • Perform takeoffs and work with subcontractors and vendors on pricing for bids
  • Prepare and track all necessary submittals
  • Obtain required material certifications
  • Maintain project files, current drawings, and production records
  • Assist the preparation and submittal of all documentation and records required for change orders
  • Assist in the analysis of cost for extra work.
  • Assist Project Manager in overall coordination of project including subcontractors
  • Build and maintain positive subcontractor relationships
  • Identify, pursue and recover fair compensation for changes in scope and optimize cash flow

What you will need:

  • 4-year engineering degree, construction management degree, or a different degree with construction or manufacturing experience highly preferred
  • General knowledge of computer software required; Excel expertise highly preferred
  • Familiarity with HCSS products (HeavyJob and HeavyBid) or other construction systems highly preferred
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, and estimating preferred
  • Ability to prepare subcontractor scopes of work
  • Familiarity with pricing, purchasing, and preparation of purchase orders for materials and equipment
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
