SIBCR’s research spans a broad range of areas such as mental health; neuroscience; diabetes, endocrinology and nutrition; prosthetics; oncology; age-related diseases; and, pulmonary diseases. We are seeking a Research Assistant II for Dr. David Morgenroth research team.
Summary:
This position is for a full-time Research Assistant III for ongoing limb loss and mobility and prosthetics/orthotics research, working with a multi-disciplinary (e.g., rehabilitation medicine, engineering, prosthetics, biomechanics) team at the VA Center for Limb Loss and Mobility (CLiMB) in Seattle under the supervision and mentorship of the Principal Investigators, David Morgenroth, MD
Responsibilities (in collaboration with research team):
Research Assistant will work with the research team under the guidance of the Principal Investigators by conducting participant recruitment and scheduling, data collection, processing, and management, and technical assistance for research operations.
Responsibilities and opportunities will include the following:
- Interact with research participants, including but not limited to: screen potential study participants (phone or in-person), schedule them for enrollment visits, consenting, and other communications, and data collection.
- Collect, process, and assist in the compilation and verification of research data, (following the study protocol and detailed instructions).
- Enter research data into a variety of websites and programs per the protocol.
- Assist with routine data verification and quality control, ensuring data integrity and consistency with prescribed study protocols.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IRB, human subjects, and data security guidelines and regulations.
- Draft or assist with preparation of regulatory documents and correspondence (e.g., R&D, IRBs) as well as funding agency required reporting.
- Assist in research operations such as contributing to progress reporting, attending, scheduling, and participating in study meetings, study equipment inventory, and order/purchasing of study supplies and equipment as needed.
- Participate in study dissemination efforts (e.g., conference abstracts, peer reviewed manuscripts for journal submissions).
- Maintain current educational and training requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in biomechanics, kinesiology, engineering, prosthetics/orthotics, or related field.
- Minimum of two years of related work experience in a related position (e.g., biomechanics, engineering, and/or prosthetics/orthotics).
- Must have demonstrated experience using gait laboratory instruments and equipment. (e.g. Vicon, Visual 3D, Delsys EMG)
- Knowledge of scientific and statistical software (e.g., Matlab, Python, R, and SPSS) strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to troubleshoot technical procedures; ability to work independently.
