The position of Construction Manager is responsible for the field construction operations of Landmark’s water tower projects.
Essential Functions:
- Interacts internally with peers, project and management, safety, accounting, payroll, shipping, purchasing, and engineering to ensure a quality product is produced according to schedule and budget.
- Initiates, implements, delegates, and monitors special projects involving construction methods and processes to improve the quality, productivity, and safety of the organization.
- Contributes to and supports Landmark’s strategic plan, goals and ideas communicating the core values of the Company through leadership and example.
- Ensures safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA guidelines are properly followed.
- Interacts with safety manager and field crews to ensure high quality work is produced in a safe, efficient manner.
- Enforce company expectations for all employees in regard to safety, quality, attendance, attitude, effort, employee relations and responsibility for self and others.
- Oversee or assist on complex projects as needed.
- Ensures individuals are accountable for assigned tasks/projects through active involvement with the construction superintendents and crews.
- Works to ensure that sufficient plans and preparation have been made to allow quality work to be completed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to drawings, specifications, Company standards, procedures, and quality expectations.
- Monitors costs associated with phase specific aspects of the project.
- Coordinates and manages the orientation period for new field supervisors.
- Identifies training requirements for individuals and the company to foster continuous improvement within the company.
- Assesses the talents of employees based on expectations for various roles. Identifies and facilitates the development of future managers.
- Focuses on the phase specific development of employees though training and mentoring.
- Conducts effective employee evaluations by identifying individual contributions, improvement opportunities, setting goals and reinforcing company expectations.
- Participates in employee selection and retention decisions for the team.
- Supervise/manage/direct the selection, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel.
- General Direction: receive very general guidance with respect to overall objectives; work is usually quite independent of others; operate within division or department policy guidelines using independent judgment in achieving assigned objectives.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of similar experience of progressive responsibility in a supervisory role.
- Broad background in structural concrete to assist in developing as well as implementing project plans.
- Thorough knowledge of surveying and layout with ability to communicate requirements and mentor others in this area.
- Experience with OSHA and other regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Experience with discipline-specific industry standards (API, ASME, AWWA, NACE, ACI, etc.)
- Experience directing, training, and motivating field personnel.
- Ability to support multiple crews in multiple locations.
- Knowledge and experience overseeing multiple jobs.
- Experience writing and documenting action plans, status reports and assessments.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
- OSHA 10 Hour preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. Will accept experience in lieu of degree.
- Up to 50% nation-wide travel.
