Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with all monthly accruals. 
  • Assists with the preparation of the monthly financial statements for the electric, water, wastewater and telecommunication utilities. 
  • Assists with budget monitoring.
  • Assists with monthly and annual reporting and surveys.
  • Assists with the monthly bank reconciliation. 
  • Serves as back-up to processing, balancing and reconciling daily cash, checks and credit cards. 
  • Serves as back-up for all miscellaneous billing and collection.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, mail or personally.
  • Assist with month-end closing.
  • Maintains all property damage claims and follow-up communication with customer and insurance company.
  • Performs a variety of other accounting duties as needed.
  • Assists Customer Service as necessary when discrepancies are found. 
  • Assists with various job functions in the Finance Department as needed.
  • Supports annual audit by providing information and answers to auditors.

Qualifications

  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • General accounting education desired.
  • Two (2) years related work experience is required.
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills and the ability to use a variety of office equipment such as calculators, copiers, typewriter, facsimile machine, personal computer, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to remain calm and deal tactfully with employees and customers.
  • A valid Indiana driver’s license required.
