Casella Construction is offering a Summer Internship in Construction Safety an opportunity to join us the Spring/Summer of 2025 for our Paid Internship. This internship will focus on honing your practical skills and field experience of Construction Management as Construction Safety in our Construction Safety Department.

Our internship program aligns with your school’s curriculum. Learn firsthand what it takes to start and finish a project and enhance your knowledge of what you learned in the classroom. You'll get hands-on experience learning management functions, construction skills, and safety tasks, including:

  • Managing traffic packages

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and programs.
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Create weekly toolbox talks and upload them into our business software.
  • Occasionally visit jobsites to conduct safety audits/inspections.
  • Research any regulatory questions that employees/supervisors ask.
  • Review and update existing policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations of OSHA, MSHA, and FMCSA/DOT.
  • Conduct risk assessments/job hazard analyses on tasks or jobsites and provide them to the supervisor.
  • Identify possible hazards/future hazards at jobsites and help form plans to mitigate them.
  • Help develop ways to promote employee engagement with the safety culture.
  • Order, restock, and distribute rigging equipment, personal protective equipment, fire extinguishers, and first aid supplies.
  • Properly maintain and operate equipment (hand tools, chainsaws, axes, winches, and ropes).
  • Complete daily paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Participate in safety and training meetings as required.
  • Clean up jobsite at end of day, ensuring trash is properly disposed of and materials and equipment are properly stored.
  • Follow the curriculum of your school to fulfill the goals of your internship.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g., Construction Safety Sciences, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management).
  • Strong interest in occupational health and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Benefits:

Our Spring / Summer 2025 Internships are 8-12 weeks, 40 hours or more per week and generally start in the May / June timeframe (start and end dates are flexible based on your availability).
