We're Hiring: Staff Accountant - Johnstown, NY Office

The Wesson Group is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Staff Accountant to join our team in Johnstown, NY. This role provides an exciting opportunity for someone eager to contribute to a dynamic team while gaining valuable hands-on experience in accounting within a thriving, value-driven company.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate posting of accounting entries by Operations and Project Management.
  • Coordinate and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the month-end close process, including posting of revenue and expenses.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, annual budgets, and regulatory reports.
  • Prepare reports as requested by the Finance team.
  • Assist in tax preparation, audits, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as a liaison between accounting and various internal departments, external clients, suppliers, and lenders.
  • Provide backup support to the AP Manager and Payroll Coordinator.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Previous accounting experience is a plus but not required - attitude is key!
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • A commitment to professional development and learning.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while prioritizing tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, vendors, and external partners.
