Position Overview
Coastline Equipment is seeking an enthusiastic Sales Representative - Compact Construction Equipment to join the team at our Long Beach branch. This key role focuses on the sales of compact construction equipment within a defined territory. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for customer success, have a deep understanding of equipment solutions, and be driven to meet sales goals. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with leading brands like John Deere and provide tailored solutions to customers while contributing to the growth and success of Coastline Equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Representation: Represent Coastline Equipment in the sale of compact construction equipment within the assigned territory, meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Product Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on the features, benefits, and financing options of equipment to provide expert advice to customers.
- Market Monitoring: Continuously track competitive activities and market trends to identify new opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Customer Relationship Management: Maintain detailed customer information and nurture long-term relationships to drive repeat business.
- Sales Process Adherence: Follow the company's defined sales process, ensuring consistency and high-quality service delivery.
- Equipment Evaluation: Assess used equipment for trade-in purposes, providing accurate evaluations to customers.
- Event Participation: Assist in the preparation and execution of customer events to showcase equipment and foster customer engagement.
- Field Demonstrations: Conduct product demonstrations to showcase equipment capabilities and benefits.
- Training & Development: Participate in ongoing sales training programs and seminars to stay ahead in product knowledge and sales techniques.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in equipment sales or territory-based selling.
- Communication Skills: Proficient in both oral and written communication, with the ability to clearly convey information and build rapport with customers.
- Performance Under Pressure: Capable of meeting multiple deadlines and adapting to a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using IOS platforms, Microsoft applications, and CRM systems to manage customer interactions and sales opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with John Deere equipment and an understanding of competitor products.
- Bilingual: Spanish/English reading, writing, and speaking skills are a plus.
Work Environment
- Location: This position is based out of the Long Beach branch, with frequent travel required within the designated sales territory.
- Driving: Must be able to drive and travel in a vehicle. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening are required.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and participate in field demonstrations, trade shows, and customer visits.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $38,400 base per year, plus commission. Total compensation is expected to range from $150,000 to $190,000, depending on sales performance.
