Job Summary:

The Crusher/Utility Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently running the crushing equipment at the sand and gravel site. This includes making sure the equipment works well, following safety rules, and maintaining product quality. The role also involves performing regular maintenance, fixing problems, and working with other team members to keep production running smoothly.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the operation of the aggregate crusher, ensuring efficient material processing.

  • Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, including lubrication, cleaning, and completing detailed inspection reports.

  • Operate various on-site equipment, such as skid steers, fuel trucks, water trucks, haul trucks, and boats, as needed.

  • Follow safety protocols and MSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

  • In-person attendance is required.


Other Required Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to handle general plant maintenance, repairs, and other tasks as needed.

  • Perform stick welding and cutting with a torch when required.

  • Complete other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Safely access and navigate the facility, including climbing and descending ladders.

  • The position will require work outside of normal business hours.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.


Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

  • Must maintain professional relationships with managers and colleagues.

  • Represent The Gerken Companies to customers in a professional manner, supporting the company’s goals.

  • Strong mechanical skills are preferred.

  • Willingness to learn, with a positive attitude, dependability, and strong teamwork.

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently is essential.


Education and Experience:

  • Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school is required.

  • Minimum two years of work experience, with construction-related experience preferred.
