An Electrical Thermography Technician is responsible for performing thermal imaging inspections on electrical systems and components to identify potential issues, prevent equipment failures, and ensure optimal performance. This role involves using specialized thermal imaging cameras and software to detect heat patterns and anomalies that could indicate electrical faults, energy inefficiency, or safety hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Thermal Inspections: Perform regular and comprehensive thermal imaging surveys of electrical systems, including panels, transformers, switchgear, and other critical components.
  • Analyze Thermal Data: Interpret thermal images and data to identify hotspots, temperature variations, and potential electrical faults.
  • Report Findings: Prepare detailed reports with findings, analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions or maintenance interventions.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Collaborate with maintenance teams to prioritize and implement preventive maintenance tasks based on thermographic findings.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all inspections and maintenance activities comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate thermographic equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest developments in thermography technology and electrical safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Certification in thermography is required.
  • Working knowledge of jobsite and electrical safety, OSHA 30 preferred
  • Experience: Previous experience in electrical maintenance, inspection, or a related field 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using thermal imaging cameras and software; strong understanding of electrical systems and components.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret and analyze thermal data accurately and efficiently.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaborating with team members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years of commercial electrical experience
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass drug testing
  • Ability to pass background check & secure required badging and fingerprint card
