ROVING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
A Roving Maintenance Technician is responsible for traveling to various commercial properties to perform maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections. This role involves a variety of tasks, including routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to maintain the properties in optimal condition.
- Travel to Sites: Regularly travel to different commercial properties to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
- Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of building systems and equipment to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Repairs and Maintenance: Perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building repairs.
- Preventative Maintenance: Implement preventative maintenance measures to minimize future issues and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and provide efficient solutions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with property managers, tenants, and other stakeholders to address maintenance concerns and provide updates
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma
- 1-3 years of commercial building maintenance experience
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License and good driving record per McGough Fleet Policy
- Boilers License, obtain within six months of hire date
Preferred:
- Post-secondary education in building maintenance and/or HVAC systems
- 4-7 years of commercial building maintenance experience
- Knowledge of OSHA and other code and safety standards
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and building management systems
- HVAC system preventive maintenance skills
Skills:
- Basic plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical skills
- Knowledge of general maintenance and routine repairs
- Knowledge of safe operating and maintenance of small to medium machinery
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 for emergencies
- Maintain a positive and helpful attitude
- Ability to work independently on routine assignments

Office and Travel:
- Requires daily travel between managed properties.
- Reports to the Building Services Supervisor.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
- A company-provided truck and tools are included to support travel to multiple client sites for routine and requested building maintenance.
- Must have the flexibility to work outside of normal hours periodically as needed.
Responsibilities and Tasks:

Operation and Routine Maintenance (50% of time)
- Maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment, including boilers and other temperature control systems
- Complete assigned work requests and preventive maintenance tasks to maintain building equipment and infrastructure. Complete and update work order documentation daily.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Applying preventative measures to reduce the risk of future problems
- Performing regular maintenance tasks such as fixing structural damage (e.g., window, door, or wall repair), painting, and landscaping.
- Study and become familiar with building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, HVAC systems, critical power systems, and other building-related equipment to ensure proper operation.
Repairs (20% of time)
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to drawers, doors, and door hardware, including key and lock maintenance after training.
- Repairing broken or leaking plumbing, damaged electrical wiring, and HVAC systems to ensure they function properly.
- Repair minor plumbing issues in restrooms, drinking fountains, and kitchen areas.
- Conduct minor painting tasks, such as painting doors, door frames, concrete floors, walls, and sheetrock surfaces.
- Perform cleaning tasks as assigned, including maintaining the perimeter of the building, emptying trash cans, and general site cleanup as needed.
Safety Inspections (15% of time)
- Comply with all safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping practices, and ensure a safe work environment.
- Recognize hazards and propose solutions to eliminate risks.
- Inspecting buildings to confirm they meet safety standards and fixing potential safety hazards.
- Perform inspections and repairs to the facility's interior and exterior, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, and lighting.
Other Duties as assigned (15% of time)
- Provide strong customer service and support for clients, tenants, and building guests.
- Assist other Maintenance Technicians and Building Engineers as needed to support building operations and equipment maintenance.
- Participate in the On-Call Rotation, remaining available 24/7 to respond to calls, emails, texts, and site visits when required.
- Adhere to company procedures and policies at all times.
- Participate as an active member of the McGough Facilities Management Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to align efforts. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.

In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base hourly range for this position is $25-$33 per hour, excluding fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you join McGough, your final base salary will be determined by several factors, including geography, location, skills, education, and experience. Furthermore, we place significant value on pay equity among our current team members as part of any final job offer.
Please note that the range provided above reflects the hiring range for this role. Hiring near the top end of this range would be atypical, as we aim to allow room for future salary growth.
