Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Union Superintendent is responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with contractual agreements and union regulations. This role demands excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills to coordinate with workers, supervisors, union representatives, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Supervision:
    • Oversee daily construction site activities, ensuring projects are progressing according to the established schedule and budget.
    • Supervise unionized laborers, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain high productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
  2. Safety and Compliance:
    • Enforce safety regulations and practices.
    • Ensure workers adhere to union rules, local/state/federal regulations, building codes, and company policies.
  3. Team Coordination:
    • Collaborate with union representatives to resolve labor issues, conflicts, or disputes.
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to both union and non-union crews.
  4. Resource Management:
    • Manage project resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel.
    • Monitor costs and prepare reports detailing labor hours, equipment usage, and project expenditures.
  5. Scheduling and Documentation:
    • Create and maintain project schedules ensuring critical deadlines are met.
    • Document project changes, delays, or unforeseen challenges and communicate with relevant stakeholders.
  6. Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect work performed to ensure it meets industry standards and contractual requirements.
    • Identify deficiencies and develop corrective strategies.
  7. Communication and Reporting:
    • Act as a liaison between construction crews, union representatives, clients, and senior management.
    • Prepare and submit detailed daily reports, communicate progress, and highlight areas needing attention.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the construction industry, with substantial experience in supervisory roles.
  • Deep knowledge of union labor agreements, collective bargaining processes, and worker rights.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, safety standards, equipment usage, and project management principles.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and construction plans.
  • Proficiency in computer software such as scheduling programs and project management tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred but not mandatory.
  • Valid certifications (OSHA, First Aid, CPR, etc.) desired.

Work Environment

The Union Superintendent typically works on construction sites and may experience variable weather conditions and demanding physical environments. Travel may be required depending on the location of projects.
