About the Role - The individual in this role is a knowledgeable Lead Low Voltage Estimator with a minimum of 15 years of estimating experience. The Lead Low Voltage Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and timely estimates for projects across the Norlee platform, developing comprehensive and competitive bids. This role will also work closely with the internal and external business development and executive teams to provide support on bids and collaborate with the Division VP as well as leading the other estimators to ensure that the company remains competitive in the marketplace while maintaining efficiency and accurate bid proposals.

Key Measurables
The success of this role can be gauged by the following metrics:

  • Successfully lead the estimating group to meet targeted revenue of a minimum of $15-25 million in low voltage projects annually.
  • Consistently estimates target projects within 5% of the low voltage marketplace estimates, ensuring competitive submissions.
  • Able to negotiate and position TTI to win bid opportunities with legacy and new clientele.
  • Has a robust follow up process to maintain client engagement to ensure TTI is positioned after bid submission.
  • Utilize CRM software and create bid tracking results on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate and/or support the preparation of full cost estimates for all
  • Thoroughly review all bid documents, including specifications, drawings, instructions to bidders, basis of design, to determine an accurate estimate and scope of work.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on pricing from suppliers through direct contact, Estimating Software, price lists, etc.
  • Support other department personnel as required which may include preparing estimates in other disciplines.
  • May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
  • Participate / Lead in the corporate bid
  • Interfaces with and communicates effectively, both written and orally, the estimating team, with all levels of management, vendors, clients and industry
  • Applies knowledge and skills through the handling of complex problems and shares expertise with the estimating team in an ongoing effort to develop, recommend revisions and implement procedures, process, and code compliant
  • Implements and maintains the Norlee systems and procedures as they pertain to the estimating process.
  • Supervises quantity take-offs for all areas of the estimate while ensuring the take- off is well noted for hand-over to the project team and includes safety and security requirements required by Norlee policies.
  • Thoroughly reviews discipline specific subcontractor and vendor bid documents and compares their proposals/bids to the project specific requirements and assesses potential risk.
  • Develop Labor and material estimates (Bill of Material) and a detailed Statement of Work.
  • Attend Weekly planning and project review meetings as required.
  • Conduct labor and materials estimate reviews with the Norlee Group management team.
  • Participate in post-award handoff meetings, coordinate with sales team, project managers and procurement team.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the software platform for the low voltage
  • All estimates are prepared in a timely fashion and completed well in advance of
  • Consistently and regularly communicates with the executive team on deliverables and clearly communicates the ability to meet
  • Maintain an audit trail with appropriate documentation to support an effective job review and turnover.
  • Timely prepares and distributes for pricing, a complete bill of materials for obtaining quotations for all material packages.
  • Timely prepares and distributes for pricing, a complete subcontractor request for quote “RFQ” proposals.
  • Accurately and routinely determine true job cost inclusive of all labor, material, quoted equipment, subcontractors, rentals, and any direct charges.
  • Determine the appropriate labor rates for the different labor classifications and skill level.
  • May perform other related duties as

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent of experience and education in construction or engineering or a related discipline.
A minimum of 15 years of progressive low voltage estimating experience or the equivalent of education and experience that includes thorough knowledge of voice/data/fiber/CCTV/CATV/OSP design and installation. BISCI certification and assets required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tools including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint. Use of Bluebeam/Accubid is desired.
