Shift: 56 hours / week
Compensation: $18.90 per hr. / $55,036 annually, DOQ

A Typical Work Day May Include:
Respond to fire, medical, and other emergencies.
Lay and connect hoses to hydrants.
Operate fire apparatus, aerial devices, nozzles, pumps, handheld fire extinguishers, and other emergency equipment.
Work in immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) atmospheres for the protection of life and property.
Perform rescues and administer basic life support to victims and patients.
Participate in formal and phased intensive training and instruction sessions.

What You Will Need:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of an EMT certification through State of Kansas Board of EMS (KBEMS).
Successful completion of Derby Fire and Rescue Department’s job specific pre-employment physical testing.

What Will Put You Ahead:
Previous firefighting experience, military experience, paramedic certification and other firefighting certifications.
Knowledge of methods, principles, and practices of modern firefighting operation and techniques.
Ability to operate firefighting vehicles and equipment.
