DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This full-time assignment involves radiation controls/health physics technician (RCT/HPT) work in support of environmental remediation services at the former DuPont Chambers Works FUSRAP site located in Deepwater, New Jersey.

The daily work includes:

  • Performing radiation control technical functions on a remediation site to include work area surveillance, contamination control survey and sampling, and MARSSIM survey and sampling support.
  • Operating a wide range of radiation measurement and survey equipment to include gamma dose rate instruments, alpha/beta monitors, and Global Position System (GPS) enabled gamma scanning and sampling systems.
  • Conducting air monitoring for personnel, work areas, and site perimeters.
  • Supporting waste transportation operations to include exposure rate and contamination control surveys of gondola railcars.

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: 

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience performing RCT/HPT duties at the Senior RCT level (meeting ANSI/ANS 3.1-2014 requirements) on DOD, DOE, EPA, or NRC radioactive cleanup sites.
  • Experience providing radiological support for moderate hazard radiological work.
  • Experience responding to radiological events (spill, personnel contamination, etc.).
  • Experience in the development and implementation of radiological work plans, permits, and procedures (RWPs, IWDs, RSPs, RPPs, etc.).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as respiratory protection, safety glasses, anti-contamination clothing.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior RCTs.
  • Knowledge of DOD/NRC radiation safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.
  • Must have 40 HAZWOPER and current 8-hour refresher certificate.
  • Must be able to pass HAZWOPER physical and wear respiratory protection.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and Adobe software products.
