We are looking for a night shift candidate who is genuinely curious and adept at maintaining industrial equipment.  Our manufacturing facilities run two shifts and the machines throughout the campus are busy.  Proper maintenance and repair are critical duties for this position.

This is not specifically a shop welder position, but welding is a part of the job, welding skills are not mandatory and can be taught.  AWS Certification NOT required. Welding PPE is provided if needed. Shop has a community helmet.

Other duties of this position may include but not limited to; forklift operation, light facility work as needed (general building maintenance), inventory and replacement of parts, aerial platform work, production line maintenance, tool repairs, and more!

A variety of duties to break up the shift.... There is never a dull moment at JL Schwieters!

The Maintenance Department is a team environment with varying levels of skill, each Machine Technician works independently but collaboration on projects, troubleshooting and cross-training exists to keep things moving in the right direction.

On-the-job training is the best way you can learn how these machines operate and what is necessary to maintain or repair.  New employees train on day shift (6am-4pm) and work with a more experienced Machine Technician to speed up the learning process and provide more in-depth, one-on-one training.

JLS provides a tablet to use for accessing the MaintainX app. We use this app to keep track of inventory and repairs.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to comply and adhere to JL Schwieters' Safety Regulations
  • A strong mechanical aptitude
  • Comfortable at heights
  • Working 10-12 hr. shift

Monday ~ Thursday. General hours are 3:00 pm- 3:00 am.  (Training hours can be flexible on day shift, eventual transition to night shift hours/schedule)
