We’re CO-OP — a community-minded design firm made up of 30-some architects, interior designers, and generally nice humans in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Aberdeen, SD. We also have a couple of dogs, but they don’t get healthcare. Or dental. And they could use dental.

We do all sorts of design work, including schools, offices, public spaces, mixed-use residential buildings, historic restorations and adaptive reuses, and even planning projects. We once did a 1/3-scale pirate ship. We don’t do pirate ships anymore.

We want to help define South Dakota architecture. To celebrate our history and pragmatic roots but challenge the status quo. We want our communities to really thrive. We want better architecture in our own backyard, and we need motivated and collaborative people to help us get there. Due to growth, we’re seeking a part-time administrative assistant – the Aide de CO-OP – to help be the backbone of our office in Sioux Falls.

The Aide de CO-OP is an essential member of the team, assisting in many aspects of the company’s day-to-day operations. Most critically, this person serves as a right hand to the firm’s leadership team. The role requires someone who is a good communicator, a quick study, and a versatile team player. This position is anticipated to be part-time, offering between 20-30 hours per week, with flexibility of schedule during normal business hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Applicants should have experience supporting an office environment, a friendly demeanor with an openness to learn, and excellent soft skills – including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and with sensitivity to workplace dynamics. At a minimum, candidates should be able to use, or quickly learn to use, basic office equipment (phone system, printer, scanner, etc.) and basic software like Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and Adobe Acrobat. Applicants should be willing and able to perform manual tasks as well, including stocking office supplies and groceries, ordering and setting up office lunches, and occasionally tidying shared spaces.
