J. Hutchins, Inc. is seeking Paving CDL truck driver candidates (Class A, B or C ) to join our team out of Irasburg, VT.

Applicants will need to be able to drive a water truck and complete small equipment moves. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, as well as a vast knowledge of transport operation. Applicants should also have a solid understanding of DOT rules and regulations, and a clean commercial driving history.

Job Duties:

  • Operate a water truck and complete small equipment moves at job site locations.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment on a daily basis
  • Familiar with DOT rules and regulations
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently
  • Complete required pre and post trip inspections reporting necessary maintenance
  • General housekeeping of equipment and yard daily, or as directed by supervisor
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing 50 lb. on a regular basis
  • General knowledge of keeping an electronic trucking log.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver License Class A, B or C and maintain clean driving record. (Records susceptible to periodic checks)
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings including DOT physical, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Ability to operate trucks, restriction free, within specifications of licensed Class.
  • One year of driving experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work a minimum of an 8-10 hour shift while driving, daily. There is potential for a shift to be more than 10 hours.
  • Ability to climb in and out of the truck throughout the day
  • Willingness to work in a team environment, take directions from others, prioritize and manage time, maintain a positive attitude and problem solve.
  • General knowledge of Vermont roads and travelways is preferred
  • Knowledge of CDL permits and permit requirements is preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment.
  • Compliance with all OSHA/MSHA and DOT regulations.
