Mechanical Project Estimator
Tessiers Mechanical Contractors, the Midwest’s Premier Mechanical Contractor, has an immediate opening for a full-time Project Estimator. The project estimator will be involved in many aspects of the company’s project take-off and estimating activities. This position will report directly to the Preconstruction Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review construction project specifications and related documents to understand project requirements and avoid or remove potential ambiguities
- Perform take-offs and project estimates based on construction project specifications and related documents for HVAC and plumbing systems
- Work closely with other members of the estimating and preconstruction team to support the cost estimation process
Education and Work Experience:
- Two years of estimating experience is required; five years or more is preferred
- A background in HVAC, plumbing, and piping is preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, addenda, change documents, and technical procedures related to the mechanical contracting trades is required
- Ability to take-off multiple trades and perform take-offs on incomplete designs
- Experience estimating medium to large construction projects is a plus
- Experience in healthcare, manufacturing, and industrial projects is also a plus
- Ability to handle take-off and estimating tasks on multiple projects at one time with the ability to prioritize these activities
- Proficiency with industry specific take-off and estimating software such as FabESTmep, Revit, and Bluebeam is a plus
- Highly proficient in Microsoft suite of products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Prompt and responsive with a measure of urgency dealing with tasks at hand
- Must be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team
- Experience with Trimble or willingness to learn is a plus
- Option to work overtime when available
