We are searching for an experienced Senior Estimator for our Seattle, Washington office who will bring a thorough working knowledge of wood frame and concrete multi-family and commercial construction as related to all disciplines and phases of construction. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 10 years of experience in building construction, with specific estimating duties for at least five years.
You will be responsible for:
- Preparing accurate, detailed and complete estimates: conceptual, preliminary and final GMP estimates.
- Performing value engineering analyses (subcontractor, supplier, and self-performed work).
- Assessing constructability of contract documents during preconstruction process.
- Estimating self-performed work and direct labor including labor productivity and mark-ups.
- Soliciting subcontractors and suppliers to provide budgets and final bids.
- Reviewing pricing and scopes of subcontractors, suppliers, and self-performed work.
- Providing quantitative take offs.
- Developing preliminary project schedule and estimating general conditions.
- Developing bid strategy and preparing bid packages.
- Making judgment calls, identifying areas of risk and consulting with the project team.
- Interfacing with QA/QC department for building envelope design.
- Presenting estimate to Owners, Owner's Representatives, and Walsh project teams and Project Managers.
- Maintaining and analyzing historical data.
You are qualified if:
- You hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent specializing in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
- You have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the construction industry, with specific estimating duties for at least five (5) years. Field experience is preferred.
- You are a self-motivated, self-starter, who demonstrates the ability to manage time effectively.
- You are a positive team player who is highly organized, efficient, detail oriented, and accurate.
- You possess strong leadership, communication and people skills.
- You are able to work with Owners, Architects, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Walsh project teams and Project Managers.
- You are able to read and interpret drawings.
- You possess the ability to communicate technical information in writing.
- You are capable of synthesizing cost data from a wide range of sources into a conceptual estimate.
- You possess the ability to anticipate and account for potential quality, safety, productivity and schedule implications in the production of an estimate.
- You possess strong working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Teams) and estimating software systems and assembly takeoff tools.
Salary range is $150,000 to $190,000 annually.
