Equipment Department Mechanic/Truck Driver
The Equipment Department Mechanic /Truck Driver will be primarily responsible for servicing, repairing and transporting construction tools and equipment. The shop and yard in Perryville, MO will be the primary reporting place and work location. Some of the work will occur at the various jobsites across multiple states and some of the work will involve transporting supplies, tools and equipment between the Perryville location and the various jobsites. Some of the work will also involve maintenance of the Perryville facility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair construction tools, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Service and maintain construction tools, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair activities
• Wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, high visibility clothing, gloves, and steel toed boots at all times
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs of the buildings and mechanical systems
• Transport tools, supplies, and heavy equipment from the Perryville facility to various jobsites and between jobsites in multiple states
• Load, secure and unload tools, supplies, and heavy equipment on lowboy, drop deck, flatbed, and van trailers
• Drive road tractors, roll back trucks, service trucks, boom trucks, pickup trucks, etc.
• Operate forklifts, manlifts, boom trucks, etc. for the purposes of loading and unloading trucks
• Interacting professionally with customers and other employees at various locations
• Clean and organize the shop, warehouse, and storage yard
• Clean trucks, trailers, and equipment
• Unload, inspect, verify, and store incoming deliveries
• Pull tools and supplies for jobsites
• Load trucks and trailers for new projects
• Unload trucks and trailers at end of projects
• Restock tools and supplies into the inventory
• Make deliveries with company vehicle
• Assist on construction sites as requested
• Assist with building and grounds maintenance as requested
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous mechanic, truck driving, building maintenance experience required
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand and power tools
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems
• Basic building and building mechanical systems repair and maintenance ability
• Route planning for interstate transporting
• Energetic, self-starter and willing to learn
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle and a forklift
• Strength, stamina, and mobility to perform physical work
• Ability to complete paper and digital forms and reports
• Must be able to effectively read and interpret information
• Ability to work successfully as a team and independently with moderate supervision
• Must possess a valid and current Class A Commercial Driver’s License
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds for long periods of time
• Coordinate eye-hand movements with control and precision
• Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate, and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Climb and maintain body balance on ladders and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
• Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time
• Pass DOT medical exam
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• May be exposed to fumes, dust or other airborne particles
• May be exposed to loud noises
• May be exposed to extreme outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
