HK Solutions Group is seeking a Mechanic for our Des Moines, IA location. The Mechanic is responsible for the service, maintenance and upkeep of the HK Solutions Group fleet. The regular working hours for this position will be 8-4:30pm Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend work required.

JOB DUTIES

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment at the Des Moines location
  • Implements and monitors a preventative maintenance program to assure cost effective maintenance is scheduled and completed
  • Maintains a complete and up-to-date inventory of all maintenance records
  • Enforces HK Solutions Group safety practices and procedures and ensures employees receive appropriate safety training
  • Ensures that all vehicles and equipment purchased are licensed and registered as required by State laws
  • Weld; replaces and repairs parts; repairs electrical systems; performs tune ups and engine overhauls along with trouble shooting techniques
  • Examines reports for accuracy on each vehicle and piece of equipment that is repaired; writes reports on vehicles and equipment repaired 
  • Keeps maintenance and repair records; performs preventative maintenance on all vehicles and orders repair parts
  • Checks all repair work performed in shop for completeness; including physical inspections and road tests before vehicle/equipment is put back into service
  • Communicates effectively with Logistics and Operations to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed on a timely and efficient basis
  • Performs other related duties as required

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • (2) or more years of experience as a mechanic
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of vacuum trucks and CCTV camera vans
  • Knowledge of large truck diesel motors, transmissions, brake and hydraulic systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities
  • Regularly performs tasks requiring climbing, crawling, crouching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and gripping
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds 
  • Frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, odors and fumes
