Cable Pipe and Leak Detection, with a 47-year history of professionalism and superior customer service, is seeking an Experienced Underground Utility Locator/GPR Technician. As part of our team, you'll perform visual inspections of designated construction areas, read and interpret utility maps, and operate state-of-the-art electromagnetic and GPR ground-penetrating radar equipment to accurately detect, locate and document underground utilities. Additionally, opportunities to collect data using GPS mapping grade equipment will be available. The schedule includes weekdays during training, potentially shifting to include a weekend day post-training. Participation in after-hours on-call service rotation is required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid State driver's license with an acceptable MVR record.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check & drug test
- Proficiency in using hand tools and equipment (e.g., shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, and similar).
- Experience locating underground utilities and operating GPR equipment is required.
- Knowledge of OSHA, state, and city/municipality safety requirements is preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.
Candidate should be proficient in using specialized equipment such as radio frequency and Ground Penetrating Radar to locate utilities. A keen ability to examine, methodically investigate, and problem solve is essential. Opportunities to learn and operate CCTV Video Inspection equipment and robotics.
Responsibilities:

- Use communication equipment to effectively liaise with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel.
- Operate electromagnetic locators to accurately locate, mark and document underground utilities.
- Locate and inspect sanitary sewer lines using push cameras and a sonde.
- Use laptop, tablet, smartphone, or other devices to receive, document, and close out assignments.
- Maintain a professional appearance while safely operating company vehicles.
- Be available for work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours if required.
- Adhere to all safety rules and avoid engaging in unsafe acts.
