Job Summary
Administers the efficient transportation of customer and company equipment via both internal and external trucking resources. Serves as the centralized contact for receiving, scheduling, and dispatching all transportation. Supports the management of the company’s fleet of vehicles and trailers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Schedules company drivers and third-party trucking resources to ensure timely movement of equipment
-Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers and vehicle leasing vendors
-Communicates accurate pickup/delivery dates and details with internal and external stakeholders
-Completes estimation and billing for trucking activities
-Reviews and properly accounts for the utilization of external trucking resources
-Maintain all filing and records for the transportation department including vehicle maintenance records
-Management of on vehicle GPS solutions inclusive but not limited to activity logging and reporting
-Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, federal and state transport and vehicle regulations, environmental laws, permitting requirements, and company safety standards in partnership with the company’s safety department
-Support the adoption and management of transportation technology to drive modernization and efficiency to current processes
-Develop best in class transportation/fleet management processes and practice where applicable
-Monitor, identify, and facilitate vehicle maintenance schedules
-Facilitate communication and engagement with the company’s roster of drivers
-Maintain and audit all records and coordination for the company’s fleet of vehicles
-Register and title all vehicles for the company in the proper jurisdiction
-Manage the registration renewal process, obtain replacement plates and registrations as needed.
-Maintain confidentiality of internal and external information
Position Qualifications
-Associates degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Ag Business or a related field
-1-2+ years of experience in transportation administration, logistics, or fleet management
-Understanding of delivery logistics and regulatory delivery practices
-Ability to use standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Internet functions
-Experience with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems preferred
-General understanding of mechanical & technical terms preferred
-Knowledge of general bookkeeping concepts and office procedures
-Experience communicating effectively verbally over the phone and in person, as well as in writing
-A positive attitude with desire to be a team player and provide leadership within the department
