Position Summary

WIELAND’s Senior Project Managers take ownership and drive relentlessly in all facets to produce a successful project. They will provide support for the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a project. The Senior Project Manager may be working with several project teams and must be able to prioritize and multi-task. They will report to the Regional Director, Project Director and CEO.

Job Functions

  • Oversee and review the bidding/buyout of projects by determining the subcontracting strategy for the project and preparing front-end documents and bid processes under various project delivery methods.
  • Review overall project status with client throughout project to maintain and foster relationship.
  • Review, understand, and communicate the Owner Contract terms to the project team for risk management and decision purposes.
  • Direct and oversee project delays with Project Team to notify Owner/Architect/Subcontractors of delays and/or potential delays.
  • Communicate with Owners, Architects and Subcontractors related to project risk, timetables, costs/budgets, and change management.
  • Monitor project health with Project Management Software to ensure the project team is utilizing and maintaining the Project Tools (Daily Reports, Schedule, Inspections, etc.) to WIELAND SOP's.
  • Hold weekly team meetings to evaluate any risk or concern and bring any issues to the Regional Director's attention. Ensure project goals are being met.
  • Mentor project team by communicating clear, challenging, and measurable goals to ensure employee expectations are known.
  • Prepare contingency plans for potential risks, expanding contractual services and project profit to mitigate risk and legal ramifications.
  • Assist Project Executives and Regional Directors with implementing Corporate Strategic Initiatives with their team members.
  • Lead dispute resolution with employees, subcontractors, and suppliers while setting realistic expectations and delivering on commitments.
  • Perform Pre-Construction Planning, Scheduling, and Cost Control.
  • Oversee preparation and distribution of Commitments/Subcontracts within 30 days of project award and execution of the Owner Contract.
  • Responsible for oversight regarding submittals, RFI's, Punchlist, Closeout and the related documentation control.
  • Verify all subcontractors have a signed subcontractor agreement, any necessary bonds and correct insurance before they begin work onsite and monitor future compliance.
  • Verify coordination of all project requirements/reviews with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Participate in post bid interviews to verify scope, schedule, and cost resulting in selection of Subcontractors that will represent WIELAND.
  • Prepare executive report including Budget, and Forecast Analysis, Schedule, and Safety.
  • Meet with project team at job site location as project demands.
  • Successfully Review / Approve invoices in a timely manner.
  • Manage change events for completion within 30 days.
  • Review and approve the project schedule and confirm weekly distribution.
  • Coordinate with Owner, Design Team, and Consultants for Owner incentives including grants, TIF, brownfield credits, etc. and assist with reporting as required to the proper authorities.
  • Schedule and hold monthly financial meetings with Project Team to update Project Fee Reconciliation, Cost Projections, and S-Curves.
  • Provide jobsite leadership by promoting safety, schedule, and quality.
  • Ability to foresee any problems, create solutions and communicate effectively to team.
