THE POSITION 
Canyon State Electric is seeking a dedicated Field Energy Marshal to join our team and ensure the safe and effective management of electrical systems across all projects. This role is central to fostering a safety-first culture and overseeing the energy isolation process during construction, commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities. Reporting directly to the Safety Director, the Field Energy Marshal has the authority to override field standards when safety hazards are identified and to call for immediate safety stand-downs if necessary. This position is instrumental in creating and enforcing policies and procedures that ensure compliance with safety regulations, energization protocols, and Canyon State Electric's commitment to excellence. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate with the Safety Director and Field Safety Manager to establish and maintain safe working conditions. 
  • Review documentation, including procedures, job hazard analyses, and permits, to ensure compliance with energy isolation policies. 
  • Act as the single point of accountability for all energy isolation activities. 
  • Stop unsafe work practices related to energy isolation as an independent authority. 
  • Oversee pre-task plans, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Energization Permits to confirm all energy sources are identified before work begins. 
  • Approve energy isolation procedures and ensure compliance with standardized policies. 
  • Validate the energy isolation permitting process, including individual and group Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols. 
  • Coordinate with general contractors (GCs) and contractors to implement and audit energy isolation assurance processes. 
  • Establish and manage an assurance process to close gaps identified in energy isolation audits. 
  • Ensure personnel performing work meet training, qualification, and PPE requirements. 
  • Provide guidance and training to crew members during energization processes. 
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) in energy isolation incident investigations. 
  • Maintain all completed documentation in the safety management software program. 
  • Assist in updating Canyon State Electric's Safety Manual regarding LOTO and energization policies. 
  • Attend turnover meetings to plan energization timelines based on project schedules. 
  • Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance across all projects. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • 5+ years of experience in a field operations, or safety role 
  • Electrical journeyman license  
  • OSHA 30 certification 
  • NFPA 70E certification 
  • OSHA 7505 certification preferred 
  • Demonstrated expertise in energy isolation, electrical systems, and safety management. 
  • Experience managing high-risk activities and implementing corrective action plans. 
  • Strong ability to identify and mitigate project risks. 
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to promote safety and compliance. 
  • Proficiency in safety documentation and software tools. 

 

Pay ranges from $80,000 - $110,000 depending on experience
