Position Overview

The Payroll Manager at Bragg Companies plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll. This position is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions, including payroll calculations, reporting, compliance, and coordination with other departments to ensure seamless operations. The Payroll Manager will also serve as the main point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing excellent service and resolving any issues promptly. This role contributes significantly to maintaining employee satisfaction, compliance with regulations, and the overall efficiency of Bragg’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payment to all employees in accordance with company policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour laws, and labor agreements.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate and review payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions, and garnishments, and provide insights to leadership for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with HR, accounting, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions or concerns, providing prompt and effective resolution to inquiries.
  • Audit Preparation: Prepare and assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and responding to audit requests.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to payroll processes and systems to increase accuracy, efficiency, and employee satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of payroll experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of payroll systems, payroll tax laws, and regulatory compliance. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and payroll software (ADP, Paychex, etc.).
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Software Experience: Experience with Vista by Viewpoint or Dayforce software.
  • Industry Experience: Familiarity with construction or industrial payroll processing is a plus.
  • Union and Multi-state Payroll: Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and union payroll processes. Experience in managing payroll for a large, multi-state workforce.

Work Environment

  • Location: Must be able to commute to Paramount, CA office.
  • Physical Conditions: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
