Preconstruction Manager- Woodframe Responsibilities (not limited to)

- Lead wood frame-specific estimating efforts including:
- Management of Quantity take-offs (Bluebeam)
- Bid tab development
- Historical cost analysis specific to wood framing
- Scope definition and gaps in early design phases
- Coordinate early-stage project planning, including:
- Site logistics plans
- Wood framing constructability reviews
- Schedule inputs based on framing methodologies
- Communicate with owners, architects, and engineers to align preconstruction goals and clarify wood-specific details throughout design evolution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors in the wood framing trade.
- Issue and manage Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to wood framing subs using BuildingConnected and oversee the full bid lifecycle.
- Create and manage bid packages, alternates, and clarifications tailored to wood framing scopes.
- Lead value engineering efforts related to framing systems, sheathing assemblies, and vertical logistics to optimize project cost and performance.
- Coordinate with BIM/VDC Team for framing-specific model review and quantity extraction.
- Participate in subcontractor scope reviews, bid comparisons, and proposal evaluations.
- Support training and mentorship of Preconstruction Engineers and Assistant Managers, with a focus on wood frame systems.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing by documenting best practices and lessons learned on the ANDRES Forum.
- Value Engineering/budget tracking
- Cost estimating and analysis
- Attend meetings (digital or face-to-face) with owners/developers, design teams, in-house, or with subcontractors
- Able to evaluate and document historical cost data
- Must be well organized with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Share knowledge (best practices and lessons learned) on the ANDRES Forum
- Seek consistent improvement and the elimination of waste
Qualifications
- 7+ years of estimating or preconstruction experience, with a significant focus on wood frame structures (multifamily, senior living, student housing, etc.)
- 3+ years as Precon Manager or Lead preferred
- Deep understanding of wood framing systems, cost drivers, and market conditions
- Strong technical proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools
- Experience with BuildingConnected and Compass (or similar prequalification platform) preferred
- Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
