Job Description:

As a Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you’ll be the frontline responder for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty equipment directly at job sites. You’ll work independently, solve complex mechanical challenges, and ensure our operations never stop paving.

What You Offer:

  • Proven experience (3+ years preferred) as a heavy equipment mechanic, with strong field service background
  • Mastery of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and powertrains
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic software
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer service mindset
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record 
  • Certifications (e.g., CAT, John Deere, Komatsu, ASE) are highly valued

Job Duties:

  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel systems on a wide range of heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, haul trucks, etc.)
  • Perform field service calls with urgency, professionalism, and precision
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot on the fly using advanced diagnostic tools and your own expertise
  • Document work orders and service reports accurately and thoroughly
  • Collaborate with dispatch, parts, and technical teams to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service truck.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Complete all assigned Learning Management System initiatives.

Physical Activity & Demand:

  • Position requires the ability to climb onto machines, the ability to grasp tools, to push/pull and to have sensitivity to touch.  Position requires the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information though oral communications, and to make fine discrimination in equipment noises which may indicate mechanical problems.
  • Moderate physical effort required to adjust, repair or replace components and systems with occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (over 50 pounds) frequently in difficult work positions.

Mental & Visual Demand:

Continuous mental and visual attention required in making adjustments or repairs.  Work is repetitive and/or diversified which requires constant alertness or activity.

Responsibility for Equipment:

Responsible for preventing damage to equipment or waste of parts due to incorrect ordering, misuse, operation, handling or set up.

Responsibility for Material:

Responsible for damage to material or equipment due to incorrect handling, assembly, inspection, diagnosis, installation, maintenance, adjustment or repair.
