At Gulf Coast Utility Contractors, we pride ourselves on providing top-tier heavy equipment for construction projects in our area.  We're looking for a dedicated Service Manager to join our team and oversee the operations of our site-based heavy equipment/diesel service department.

Position Overview:

As GCUC's Heavy Equipment Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of all heavy equipment both at job sites and shop.  Your role will involve coordinating service schedules, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and compliant with safety standards, and leading a team of technicians.  You will be the primary point of contact between superintendents and the mechanics for all equipment-related issues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Service Operations:  Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all heavy equipment at job sites and shop alike.
  • Lead a Team:  Supervise and mentor a team of technicians and field service workers.
  • Client Relations:  Act as the primary liaison between GCUC Superintendents and the service team.
  • Ensure Compliance:  Monitor and enforce all safety, quality, and compliance regulations related to heavy equipment operations.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:  Assist in diagnosing complex issues with equipment and coordinate appropriate solutions.  Oversee correct parts are being ordered/installed to eliminate down time with the equipment.
  • Inventory Management:  Oversee inventory for spare equipment parts to ensure all equipment is repaired in a expedient manner.
  • Reporting and Documentation:  Maintain detailed records of service work, inventory usage, and other relevant data for company tracking and client reporting.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience:  Minimum of 5 years in the heavy equipment industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management roll.
  • Technical Knowledge:  Strong knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, excavators, and graders.
  • Leadership Skills:  Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of technicians, ensuring work is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:  Ability to think critically and resolve complex issues related to equipment downtime, repairs, and operation needs.
  • Communications Skills:  Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interface with clients and team members professionally.
  • Certifications:  Relevant certifications in heavy equipment operation, maintenance, or management are preferred (e.g., ASE, OEM-specific certifications)

Pay Based on Experience

MUST be able to relocated within 30 days of accepting a job position.
