Job Overview:

We are looking for a strategic and experienced Contracts Director to lead the Contracts Department and oversee contracts across the entire company, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all business units. This role involves managing the execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, crane rental contracts, commercial leases, and real estate purchase agreements in collaboration with business leaders to protect Bragg’s interests and align with operational and financial objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts, including construction, equipment rental, lease, and real estate transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise-Wide Contract Management & Negotiation: Lead full contract lifecycle management across all divisions, ensuring consistency, compliance, and alignment with company policies. Negotiate and execute a variety of agreements, including prime contracts, subcontracts, crane rentals, leases, and real estate deals. Standardize contract processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Subcontract Administration: Develop and maintain subcontract templates tailored to project needs and risk profiles. Ensure alignment between subcontract terms and prime contract obligations. Collaborate with operations and finance to support project delivery and budget adherence.
  • Crane Rental & Construction Contracts: Oversee crane rental agreements, optimizing terms for cost-effectiveness and regulatory compliance. Support construction contract strategy, negotiation, and risk allocation in partnership with divisional teams.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate contractual risks in collaboration with legal, finance, and operations. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and advise on dispute resolution strategies.
  • Leadership & Department Oversight: Lead and mentor the Contracts Department, aligning team goals with business objectives. Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and drive process improvements through technology and best practices.
  • Financial & Strategic Impact: Ensure contract pricing supports financial goals and project budgets. Provide strategic input on risk, bidding, and cost-saving opportunities. Escalate exceptions in accordance with delegated authority protocols.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: 10+ years of experience in contract management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction, heavy industry, or crane rental sectors.
  • Industry Experience: Strong understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, and crane rental agreements. Extensive experience managing contracts when operating as both a general contractor and a subcontractor. Strong understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, and crane rental agreements.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of industry regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and applicable state/federal laws.
  • Leadership Skills: Exhibit exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with contract management software and ERP systems.
  • Union and Non-Union Experience: Experience managing contracts for union and non-union labor environments.
  • Process Improvements: Proven track record of process improvements and cost reduction initiatives related to contract management.

Work Environment

  • Location: Ability to work in our Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA.
  • Physical Demands: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
