Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of cost estimates in order to bid and secure site development work.
Job Duties:
- Review tender documents, plans and specifications.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs.
- Solicit and receive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Attend site visits and field measurements as required for preparing quotes.
- Responsible for Contact Management (CRM) database entry and maintenance.
- Review all plans and specifications, permit set of drawings and owner requirements with Estimator.
- Prepare drawing list (put documents in appropriate files).
- Process and distribute all R.F.I.s for estimating and job addendums. Respond to all subcontractor inquiries in relation to bids.
- Assist estimator in generating scope of work for all trades.
- Maintain positive client/subcontractor relationships.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
- Complete all assigned Learning Management System initiatives.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Estimating knowledge and the capability to work with complicated drawings as used by architects and engineers.
- Knowledge and capability to work with a variety of precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of engineering & estimating methods for bidding work.
- Computer Literacy
- Blueprint/Plan interpretation
- Strong mathematical skills
- Strong communication skills
Contact with Others:
Outside and inside contacts involving carrying out organizational policy and programs and influencing others, where improper handling would have a marked effect. Contacts also involve dealing with persons of higher rank requiring explanation, discussion, persuasion and obtaining approval; considerable tact required.
Confidential Data:
Regularly works with confidential data of major importance such as production costs, individual wage and salary rates, production schedules, and profit margins which, if disclosed, might be detrimental to the company’s interest.
