Summary/objective

We are seeking a technically skilled and systems-oriented Technology and Facilities Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our physical and digital infrastructure. This role sits at the intersection of IT systems engineering, facilities infrastructure, and integrated security, and is responsible for building resilient, scalable, and secure environments that support both people and technology. The ideal candidate will have strong technical aptitude, systems-level thinking, and hands-on experience with both modern IT infrastructure and facility engineering solutions, with a particular focus on reliability, safety, and security.

 Essential functions

 Infrastructure Engineering & Systems Design

  • Design, implement and support scalable hybrid cloud infrastructure including networks, endpoint systems, and AV/meeting room technologies.
  • Engineer fault-tolerant, secure connectivity solutions across physical locations (wired/wireless networking, VPN, SD-WAN, etc.).
  • Develop and manage system architecture documentation, including diagrams, performance baselines, and configuration standards.
  • Lead evaluation and deployment of new infrastructure tools, platforms, and automation frameworks to improve performance and supportability.
  • Integrate and optimize building systems (e.g., access control, HVAC, sensors) with technology platforms for smart facility management.

Security Engineering (Information & Physical)

  • Develop and enforce policies for identity and access management, endpoint protection, encryption, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Design and maintain physical security systems including video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection.
  • Partner with InfoSec or compliance teams to implement and align with relevant standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST).
  • Monitor systems for anomalies and vulnerabilities and respond to incidents with documented mitigation strategies.
  • Evaluate and implement tools for securing hybrid work environments, including secure remote access and zero-trust architecture elements.

Facilities Systems Engineering

  • Manage and execute repair strategies for physical infrastructure issues across all office and branch locations, ensuring minimal disruption and operational continuity.
  • Lead or support infrastructure design for new office builds, renovations, or relocations, including cabling plans, power/load distribution, and space utilization.
  • Optimize integration between IT systems and facility operations (e.g., environmental controls, lighting automation, room scheduling).
  • Create and maintain system diagrams, technical specifications, and engineering documentation for critical infrastructure.

Project & Vendor Management

  • Lead technical infrastructure projects from planning through execution (new office builds, network upgrades, security improvements).
  • Collaborate with architects, electricians, general contractors, and third-party vendors to deliver engineered solutions on time and within scope.
  • Assist in the management of vendor relationships for IT, facilities, and security systems to ensure quality, reliability, and security compliance.
  • Provides prompt and effective service to internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate commitment, dependability, and respect for other team members with regular and predictable attendance, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule of availability.

 Competency

  • 5+ years of experience in supporting and managing hybrid cloud infrastructure, systems, or facilities engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in systems architecture and engineering (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, switching, wireless, systems, and data center).
  • Working knowledge of hybrid security principles in both IT and physical domains (IAM, encryption, badge systems, surveillance).
  • Experience designing and/or supporting facilities infrastructure (structured cabling, power systems, mechanical coordination).
  • Strong documentation and systems modeling skills (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, AutoCAD, and/or Revit familiarity).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) or endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune, JAMF).
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments that include on prem, hosted, and public cloud solutions – Azure skillsets preferred

 Work environment—The incumbent works in an office environment that is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as heat, cold, or extreme noise.

  • Driving.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.

 Position type and expected hours of work—full time, generally 8 AM – 5PM M-F

 Travel—Travel to branch locations throughout western Iowa and eastern Nebraska.
