Are you a detail-obsessed problem-solver with a passion for numbers, strategy, and winning work? At Total Civil Construction & Engineering, we’re hiring a Senior Estimator to lead the creation of precise, competitive project bids that set the stage for success.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Estimator, you’ll manage complex estimates from start to finish, interpreting blueprints and specs, evaluating vendor proposals, and collaborating with internal teams to shape cost-effective solutions that align with client goals and project realities.
- Lead and mentor junior estimators on large-scale and complex projects
- Analyze plans, specs, and digital models to develop detailed takeoffs and estimates
- Source and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors
- Prepare estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, indirects, overhead, and profit
- Develop rough project schedules to accurately forecast resources
- Assist with budgeting, preliminary site evaluations, and alternative approaches
- Communicate with operations, purchasing, and planning teams to ensure alignment
- Submit documentation for bonding, insurance, and compliance as needed
- Maintain organized, accurate files in support of future project wins
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and partners
- Propose improvements in estimating tools, workflows, and bid strategies
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management (required)
- 8+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil or infrastructure projects
- Expertise in reading construction plans and technical documents
- Strong skills in volumetric, linear, and area quantity takeoffs
- Familiarity with local/state/federal construction regulations
- Proficient in estimating tools like Heavy Bid, AGTEK, Active Takeoff, and HCSS
- Strong Excel, Word, and Outlook skills; PowerPoint and MS Teams preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentorship abilities
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to conduct site visits as needed
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
