Casella Construction is seeking an Aggregate Yard Lead to join our Aggregate Team in our Mendon Aggregate Staging Yard. The Aggregate Yard Lead will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the yard, managing inventory, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on managing a crushed stone staging yard, overseeing production, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service.

The ideal candidate will have a background in aggregate materials, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of a crushed stone staging yard, ensuring efficient material handling, storage, and load-out.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external customers,
  • Supervise and schedule yard and production staff, providing training, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Operate and train others on heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, dozers, and haul trucks.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections, basic maintenance, and equipment upkeep.
  • Monitor and adjust Wash plant operations to meet production goals.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels.
  • Ensure all onsite safety policies, procedures, and MSHA regulations are followed.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintain records for equipment and work areas.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs and demonstrate welding skills as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly yard environment.
  • Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in aggregate, construction, or mining operations
  • 3+ years of experience operating a Front-End Loader
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Experience operating heavy equipment in a production environment
  • Ability to train and mentor team members on equipment and safety practices
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic welding skills (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license (CDL is a Plus)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the construction or mining industry.
  • Experience in Wielding and fabricating. (Is a plus)
  • Operate a loader with load-rite scales in it.
  • Basic knowledge of state specifications for Aggregates.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (Class A or B)

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb inclines for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather.
