Job Summary
Kearney Ready Mixed is looking for a high performing, results-oriented leader to manage production, distribution, operations and employees for the concrete plant facility while meeting the demands of the operation and continually balancing the competing needs of maintenance and production. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assures production and distribution of a ready mixed concrete plant is handled in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the department/company.
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the operation.
Determines work procedures and assigns duties to personnel associated with the batching and hauling of concrete.
Assures all Lockout/Tagout program/policy for Ready Mixed is developed and implemented while assuring personnel follow safe lockout/tagout procedures.
Assures SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.
Provides up-to-date status on support or production activities to appropriate parties.
Coordinates and supervises any updates and / or alterations in plant design.
Estimates and develops costs for major repairs and renovations to the operation.
Develops support information for the maintenance plan.
Inspects personnel performance for quality and quantity. Documents and provides feedback on performance as necessary.
Assures maintenance of general appearance and security of grounds and buildings, equipment and machinery.
Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area.
Conducts safety meetings and plant safety/environmental inspections as required.
Develops and recommends budgets to management.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job provides supervisory responsibilities for employees within the plant, including Concrete Truck Drivers—indirect, Plant foreman, batch operations personnel--direct. Approximately 15 people.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; and
- 5 years in a ready mixed concrete production role or experience in a related role with at least 2 years in a leadership role; or
- equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- CDL helpful, but not necessary.
Other Qualifications:
- Must have thorough knowledge of and be capable of operating all equipment and machinery used in ready mix concrete production and delivery.
- Must have a good overall technical knowledge of plant operations, safety, training, environmental compliance, equipment and construction projects.
- Previous record of increasing responsibility and results in production, maintenance, process and quality. Previous work experience in quality assurance and testing is helpful.
- Must have understanding of the Safety Rules & Regulations of the industry required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specifications.
- Ability to write business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must be able to read and understand operations manuals, equipment instructions, safety rules, etc. and write reports and communicate with management and subordinates to solve problems, provide instruction, etc.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Must be able to apply principles of basic algebra, geometry and shop math to calculate variables such as inventory, moisture content and preparation of daily reports.
