About the Role

We’re hiring a DOT Safety Compliance Manager who will play a key role in supporting transportation safety across all Gerken Companies. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead DOT compliance efforts, driver training programs, and safety audits—all while championing a strong safety culture.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local DOT regulations

• Manage driver qualification files, HOS logs, FMCSA Clearinghouse records, and drug/alcohol testing documentation

• Conduct internal safety audits and support external DOT inspections

• Lead accident investigations and analyze trends to identify risk areas

• Review MVRs and address violations or concerns

• Serve as a subject matter expert on DOT-related issues and a liaison with local/state DOT officials

• Spearhead driver training initiatives, including simulator programs and continuing education

• Maintain up-to-date training materials aligned with industry best practices

• Collaborate across operations, HR, and maintenance to reinforce safety and compliance

• Provide coaching and leadership to EHS staff across the organization

• Maintain documentation for OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory bodies

What You Bring to the Table

• 5+ years of relevant experience in DOT safety, compliance, and regulatory training

• Strong leadership and communication skills—you know how to guide and influence teams

• Comfort analyzing data, identifying patterns, and solving problems proactively

• A hands-on mindset: you're just as comfortable leading a training session as you are reviewing documentation or preparing for an audit

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and industry software

• Ability to travel regularly to job sites and locations

• Valid Class A CDL is preferred, or a willingness to obtain one.

• EHS certifications such as OSHA 30-hr or 40-hr HAZWOPER are a plus

• Associate or Bachelor's in a related field preferred
