R.W. Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations – six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.
The Office Receptionist is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate associates, taking thorough messages as needed, greeting visitors to RW Mercer in a friendly and professional manner, mail distribution, and and additional duties assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers incoming calls in a congenial manner and taking detailed messages.
- Provides appropriate information to customers and initiates correspondence in response to request for additional information.
- Forward detailed messages to appropriate employee.
- Greets, welcomes, and directs visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Notifies company personnel of visitor arrival.
- Maintains office security by following procedures to allow approved visitors into the building.
- Keeps a safe and clean reception and breakroom area.
- Provides clerical support for the office.
- Prepares outgoing mail for pick up. Coordinate the pick and deliver of express mail services (FedEx, UPS, etc.)
- Receives, sorts, and forwards incoming mail (including branch mail) in a timely manner.
- Completes photocopies, fax, file, correspondence, collate, and other documents for various departments as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with customers and team members.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook, and Internet is a must.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years old or older and possess High School Diploma, GED, or equivalency.
