About the Role

We are seeking a Vice President of EHS to lead our company-wide safety culture. Based in Spartanburg, this role is ideal for a safety professional who doesn’t just check the box but wakes up every day thinking about safety—someone who thrives in the field, can engage with teams at every level, and embraces change to make impactful improvements.

As a senior leader in our organization, you’ll oversee all safety functions, manage our EHS team, and partner with operations to ensure all our construction projects are executed with the highest commitment to safety—for employees, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic lead for all Environmental, Health & Safety programs across multiple divisions throughout the southeast including job sites and office locations.
  • Lead a team of direct reports, who manage regional safety teams, with a bias towards development, servant leadership, and accountability.
  • Monitor and support the safety performance of all subcontractors, ensuring full compliance with our standards and values.
  • Occasionally attend and lead Job Safety Analysis (JSA) meetings to promote proactive hazard identification and planning. Drive accountability companywide to ensure all job’s JSA meetings meet company safety standards.
  • Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures aligned with OSHA and industry best practices.
  • Act as the face of safety on the job site—partnering with clients, project managers, and field staff to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct safety audits, training sessions, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Champion a culture of safety that embraces innovation, transparency, and results.

Qualifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required
  • Master’s degree in safety or related field is strongly preferred
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive safety leadership experience, preferably in civil or heavy construction
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change and influence safety behavior across a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of construction operations, including site logistics, subcontractor coordination, and field risk management
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused mindset
  • Ability to travel 20%–30% as needed for job site visits, audits, and leadership meetings
