Sales Director

Position Overview:
The Sales Director leads all revenue-generating functions for Carolina Traffic Devices (CTD), driving business growth through strategic sales leadership, market development, and customer relationship management. This role oversees all regional markets (NC, SC, GA, TN, VA), including the launch and operation of regional storefronts for direct sales of traffic safety equipment and supplies.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Sales Director shapes CTD’s go-to-market strategy, optimizes the performance of the sales organization, and ensures the company maintains a competitive edge in the traffic safety and construction supply industry.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Sales Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the sales organization, including outside/inside sales, regional managers, and storefront teams.
- Set clear sales goals, quotas, territories, and performance metrics to drive revenue growth.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish annual sales targets, pricing strategies, and market expansion plans.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform strategy and capture new business opportunities.
Market Development & Customer Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, industry partners, and prospects.
- Identify new markets, accounts, and opportunities to increase CTD’s market share.
- Represent CTD at industry trade shows, networking events, and customer meetings to enhance the company’s reputation and brand visibility.
- Ensure exceptional customer experience and retention through proactive communication and problem resolution.
- Active engagement with social media channels including LinkedIn.
Operational Excellence & Revenue Generation
- Oversee storefront operations, including product mix, pricing, and merchandising to maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with marketing to create and execute campaigns, promotional materials, and digital strategies that support sales initiatives.
- Monitor sales performance through reporting, forecasts, and KPIs, using insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide accurate, strategic estimates and proposals to customers and follow through to secure business.
- Inventory management across all branch locations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with operations and to ensure seamless handoff from sales to execution.
- Identify and recommend improvements to CTD’s processes, offerings, and customer engagement strategies to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; equivalent combination of education and industry experience considered.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, preferably in construction, industrial equipment, or traffic control products.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales goals in multi-state or regional markets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HubSpot or similar CRM preferred.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Regional travel up to 35%, including some overnight stays.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor construction environments, including noise and dust.
