JOB SUMMARY

The Waterproofing Journeyman at FW Walton Roofing is responsible for performing a wide variety of commercial and industrial waterproofing services, including tuck painting, masonry repair, caulking, traffic coating, roof coating, wet glazing, ABAA Level 3 air barrier applications, and below-grade waterproofing installations. This position requires travel throughout the region to various job sites, working safely and efficiently on projects of varying scale and complexity.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Maintain an overarching understanding of jobsite safety, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Receive instructions and complete assigned tasks within project scope with minimal supervision.
  • Work safely from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts at various heights.
  • Follow the direction of the Field Supervisor and Foreman; promptly communicate any issues or concerns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
  • Perform tuck painting on masonry and other substrates as needed.
  • Execute masonry repair, including repointing, patching, and sealing.
  • Apply joint sealants and caulking in horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications.
  • Install and maintain traffic coating and roof coating systems.
  • Perform wet glazing and sealant replacement on window and curtain wall systems.
  • Install ABAA Level 3 air barrier systems in compliance with industry standards.
  • Apply below-grade waterproofing systems, including sheet membranes, liquid-applied systems, and drainage board.
  • Mentor and assist apprentices as needed.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely, ensuring correct usage for each application.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and best practices to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Professional, quality-minded approach to workmanship.
  • Ability to mix and match colors for tuck painting and coatings.
  • Proficiency in applying sealants at production rates (e.g., 400 lineal feet per day on precast panels).
  • Experience with liquid and sheet waterproofing systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to meet deadlines and project goals.
  • Willingness to travel as required for projects.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to adapt to changes in work methods or project requirements.
  • Familiarity with construction tools, materials, and techniques relevant to waterproofing, coatings, and masonry work.
  • Minimum 3 years’ prior experience in construction or waterproofing preferred.
  • Precast concrete, masonry, and commercial construction site experience preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, climb, kneel, twist, squat, crawl, and use hands/forearms repetitively.
  • Ability to be on your feet and moving for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at various heights from ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts.
  • Moderate to high risk of exposure to environmental elements.
  • Moderate to high safety precaution requirements.
  • Exposure to outdoor work environments in wet, hot, humid, or cold conditions.
  • Ability to work year-round in varying weather conditions.
